I hate the Pixiv Scotland fan design. No other character is subjected to their “Uniform” resembling their flag because the designer was too lazy to look up actual uniforms for the country. Part Scottish myself, I get insulted when I see this. There was a time when Kilts, the traditional dress in Scotland were banned by the British rule, and only nobles, or military men were allowed to wear them, so Scottish men joined ranks to be allowed to wear their kilts. The tradition carried into WWII, and beyond, and dress uniforms STILL almost always incorporate a kilt, or tartan pants. It’s greatly insulting when I see a design that’s become so popular, that is basically an insult to the traditions. It also pisses me off when I point it out that 5 seconds on a google image search shows this and people say “It’s just a fan design”. No, it’s an insult! Also, arguing that Denmark’s design is nothing like his uniform is not a good base, since it resembles a German WWII greatcoat, and Denmark was quickly taken by German forces in WWII, and red is associated with heroic figures, there’s a reason Himaruya chose Denmark’s design. The Pixiv flag uniform Scotland is just lazy, putting white sashes over Italy’s uniform to make it look like the St. Andrew’s Cross flag.
